The reminders of war seem to be everywhere I go here. As an Australian, it's not something I'm used to.

As I write this, outside the windows are the lush, peaceful fields of Ireland. Not far from where I sit sheep, cattle and horses enjoy the new spring growth. The grass is such an intense green it almost hurts my eyes.

A few odds and ends about Tasmania, for those people I've met while travelling and are interested in the place I come from.

As I travel I'm asked similar questions about the place I come from - Tasmania, Australia. The aim of this blog post is to answer a few of those questions - and perhaps raise a few more.

  1. Tasmania is an island off the south coast of Australia. It's a state of Australia.

Many years ago someone said to me, "Jennie, if there wasn't a crisis happening in your life, you'd find it necessary to create one." Reading my posts of the last few weeks you would probably be tempted to agree with him.

I missed my plane to Ireland.

After managing to get half way around the world without any major stuff ups, flying in and out of Melbourne and Darwin in Australia, Singapore,  then Kuala Lumpur, Kuching and Miri in Malaysia,  going from Stansted to Dublin should have been a breeze.
