This was my mother's recipe, which I have updated. I think every household in Australia has some version of this recipe.
In a saucepan big enough to cook the whole meal, heat a bit of vegetable oil, fry a diced onion and some garlic and finely chopped ginger.
Add about 500 gm mince (1 lb) and brown thoroughly.
Add 1 tablespoon of curry powder and cook until aromatic.
Small tin of diced pineapple
Packet of chicken noodle soup
Tablespoon of rice
About 1/4 cabbage, finely shredded
Other vegies - french beans, sliced capsicum, julienne carrots
Add water so the mixture is runny. The rice thickens it.
Cook for about an hour.
Serve with soy sauce and sweet chillie sauce.
